What exactly is the House of Games Berlin?

Covering more than 10,000 square meters in a central location in the German capital, the House of Games Berlin is taking shape as a new hub for the industry. It will offer a wide range of spaces for:

  • Companies and institutions from the games sector

  • Co-working environments

  • Multifunctional shared spaces

  • Services in areas such as technology and development

  • Culture and research

  • Events, conferences, and exhibitions focused on games and esports

With a focus on interdisciplinary knowledge exchange, collaboration, access to networks, funding, projects, and shared facilities for events and meetings, the House of Games Berlin aims to become a pioneering space for work, development, and business — one that fosters innovation and synergy across the ecosystem.

The Location

The future home of the House of Games Berlin will be located in the LUX building. Starting in 2026, more than 10,000 square meters at this central Berlin site on Rotherstraße 8–11 — directly adjacent to the Warschauer Straße S- and U-Bahn station — will host numerous companies from the national and international games ecosystem, with both private and shared spaces.

Situated within a historically significant yet state-of-the-art building complex, the necessary interior construction for the House of Games Berlin will begin shortly. The property is currently in the shell construction phase.

“With the House of Games, we are building something special in Belin: a location for companies, developers and startups from the games scene. Already today, the games industry is an important economic factor for Berlin – with around 250 million euro annual revenue  and more than 3,000 employees. I am certain that the House of Games Berlin will become a home for established companies, developers and founders from Germany, as well as from all over the world. In this central location, everything comes together: history, modern infrastructure, creativity. It is the perfect mixture for innovation, exchange and development.”

– Kai Wegner, Governing Mayor of Berlin

“With the House of Games, Berlin becomes the first point of contact for the games industry in Germany. The games industry, next to fin tech, green tech and health tech, has been an important accelerator for innovation, digitalization and economic growth in Berlin. Therefore, it is the declared goal of our economic policy, to further extend this dynamic sector in our city. During last year alone, we provided over six million euro of state funding for the games industry, as well as for million euro for the visual effects sector. We want to keep up this level in the upcoming two-year budget plan. We also plead for more games funding on a national level. Our message to games companies, studios, startups and developers is clear: We see you, and we want you in Berlin! With the House of Games, you will now get a real home in Berlin, supporting networking, funding and visibility. This project is another step on our way to become the number one location for innovation in Europe.”

– Franziska Giffey, Mayor and Senator for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises

“With a record funding amount at the state level of 4.6 million euros, Berlin-Brandenburg supported game development in the capital region in 2023. Games, esports, immersive technologies, and creative technologies are the areas of the creative economy that represent some of the largest economic factors for this region. With the ‘House of Games,’ a place is being created in Berlin where business, science, education, culture, and the general public meet, showcasing the entire ecosystem surrounding the cultural asset of games. Whether large or small companies, developer studios, co-working spaces, startups, cultural or educational institutions: The ‘House of Games’ in Berlin will be a magnet for national and international gaming enthusiasts – both in the B2B and B2C sectors.”

Jeannine Koch, Chairwoman / CEO – medianet berlinbrandenburg e.V.

The House of Games Berlin is emerging as a unique hub with international appeal – helping to raise global awareness of Germany as an up-and-coming location for the games industry. Through this project, we can collectively showcase the industry’s diversity, its cultural and economic strength, and its remarkable capacity for innovation.

– Felix Falk, Managing Director – game – The German Games Industry Association

The ideal location for the House of Games Berlin has been found. Here on site, we have the perfect foundation for our vision: to create both an inspiring environment for the gaming companies moving in and a strong local community. Its central location also allows us, as operators, to develop an innovation ecosystem in East Berlin and, in collaboration with Berlin’s future-oriented districts, across the entire city. Drawing on our experience as site operators of innovation hubs—such as the Technology Park Adlershof—we will design spaces that give companies and talents exactly what they need: suitable infrastructure, strong networks, and opportunities for collaboration with science and tech partners.

– Roland Sillmann, CEO – WISTA Management GmbH

The House of Games Berlin is a groundbreaking project for the German games industry. As a large international company, Ubisoft values a diverse environment to develop a location sustainably. We need an ecosystem of large, medium, and small companies, a genuine digital game development culture. Regular informal exchange, shared use of infrastructure, and collaboration between industry, education, science, associations, youth protection, and service providers will make the House of Games Berlin a vibrant place. For Berlin and Germany, this is a game changer and an important step toward joining the major international centers of game development in the future.

– Benedikt Grindel, Zone Managing Director – Ubisoft Production Studios
