Recent news by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action on the depletion of funds for the German federal funding program in 2022 as well as 2023 has brought us to a slight shift in focus for this event. In addition to an overview of regional games funding through Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, we took a look at the status quo of the federal funding program, and an outlook into the future with ample time for a Q&A with our experts.

The panel took place online on the medianet Zoom platform and aimed to inform potential founders, and possible grant applicants, but also established studios looking for an update on these issues.

Joscha Neumann, Medienboard Berlinbrandenburg 

Joscha is passionate about indie games and everything gaming related. As Funding Executive for games at Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, he supports teams in the application process, evaluates projects and represents the MBB in various initiatives and at numerous events. Part of his job is also the development of new strategies and programs on how to support the games industry in other regards as well.

 

 

Uta Eberhardt, Creative Europe Desk | MEDIA Berlin-Brandenburg

Uta Eberhardt is working for the Creative Europe Desk | MEDIA Berlin-Brandenburg. Since 2005 is she counselling industry professionals for funding opportunities offered by the Creative Europe Programme. Her key focus: innovative business models, new technologies, games and XR.

 

 

 

Dr Matteo Riatti (PhD), DLR Projektträger

Dr Matteo Riatti (PhD) is head of the video game and creative industries department within the entrusted funding management agency at the German Aerospace Center (DLR Projektträger). Together with his team, he is managing the federal funding program for the German video game industry.

In a game, Jenni would be an all-rounder class: She started her career in the games industry as the Project Manager of Womenize! Games and Tech. In 2018, she joined Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg as the Funding Manager Games. There she was responsible for the local game scene in Berlin and Brandenburg. She continued her journey as a Product Manager by joining Thunderful Publishing in January 2022, where she manages games and development teams worldwide. Now and then, she gets the chance to moderate events, and record Let’s Plays during her off days for the YouTube channel “Two Into Indie”.
